Why a hand-finished tie hangs differently

A tie is three layers of silk folded around an interlining and held by a single thread. That thread is not pulled tight but left with slack — which is why a well-made tie returns to shape after the knot is undone instead of twisting.

Jacquard means the design is woven into the fabric rather than printed onto it. It is made of the silk, not laid on top of it. That is why the pattern shifts in the light as you move — and why it cannot rub off.
